Each year, The Rose Theater’s high school interns offer a unique production showcasing their talents.
"Before The World Goes Dark" uses theater to examine teen perspectives on the global Climate Crisis.
"Pride Players" uses improvisation to create songs, poetry, monologues and skits that explore what it means to be a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer or straight-allied teen in Omaha.
An ensemble of diverse teenaged youth that explores issues presented by being African American in today’s culture.
A showcase of the work of teenage writers in the Omaha area.
Theater of the Oppressed. Using Brazilian theatre techniques, the group makes short, interactive scenes of “Forum Theater,” where problems are dramatized, stopped, and reframed — as rehearsal for reality. The group presents at Opening Night of Teens ’n’ Theater shows to inspire audiences to take immediate action in moments of injustice.
Meetings are every other Wednesday. Email Jay at jayh@rosetheater.org if you’re interested in joining. Floating attendance is valid, encouraged and understood.
2023-24 IDEA Coalition Meeting Schedule:
Here’s a zine the Coalition created after the 2020-21 season of discussions on topics like white supremacy, election reform, disability justice, women’s history month, climate change and housing inequity:
We are often looking for teens and youth to audition for shows on the main stage! Information, contacts, instructions and audition tips can be found on our Auditions page.
The Rose Brigade is an elite group of musical theater performers who perform pre-shows before select main stage productions and, in some cases, participate in local and regional competitions. Click here for information.
Rose Dance Project dancers are selected by audition to represent The Rose in local and regional dance competitions and to perform within the community. Click here for information.
The Rose provides a wide range of classes for teens. Whether you are interested in acting, playwriting, dance or voice, we have a class for you! Beginners or those with a bit more experience will find their place in the spotlight at The Rose. For information, please visit our class search engine.
The Rose’s Teen Volunteer Team helps run the light boards, paint scenery, prepare props and more. Volunteers earn volunteer credit toward free tickets, classes and more. This program gives teens an opportunity to increase their theatrical experience in a professional context, while building relationships with teens who share their interests. To sign up for the Teen Volunteer Team, email teenvolunteers@rosetheater.org.
The Rose offers a Teen Internship to high school juniors who plan to study theater in college. Teen interns work a minimum of 150 hours from June to May, gaining valuable hands-on experience as they contribute to a variety of artistic, educational and administrative projects.
To apply for the Teen Internship in the 2022-2023 school year, send a letter of interest and resume to Jay Hayden at jayh@rosetheater.org no later than April 1, 2023.
