ROSE TEENS ‘N’ THEATER PRODUCTION

Livin’ in Color!

Coming soon to The Rose Theater Downtown!

  • April 25 at 7 pm
  • April 27 at 7:30 pm

The Rose Theater’s innovative Teens ‘N’ Theater program provides teens ages 13 to 18 opportunities to get active in the world of theater. The Rose produces five teens-only shows each season, where teen participants act, direct, write, design and stage manage. Students perform fresh, thought-provoking work at The Rose’s Hitchcock Theater.

Teens ‘N’ Theater opening nights feature post-show discussions led by teens, including “news you can use” to learn more about topics from each show and engage in community action.

teen2 Teens ‘N’ Theater is open to high school students who have not yet graduated. There is no cost to participate, and the program is open to all interested students. Please note: the audition information for each show (and our main stage opportunities) is listed further down on this page under “Teen Season.”

Teen IDEA Coalition

Theater of the Oppressed. Using Brazilian theatre techniques, the group makes short, interactive scenes of “Forum Theater,” where problems are dramatized, stopped, and reframed — as rehearsal for reality. The group presents at Opening Night of Teens ’n’ Theater shows to inspire audiences to take immediate action in moments of injustice.

Meetings are every other Wednesday. Email Jay at jayh@rosetheater.org if you’re interested in joining. Floating attendance is valid, encouraged and understood.

2023-24 IDEA Coalition Meeting Schedule:

  • Meeting Dates: Alternate Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 20, 5:00 – 6:00 pm at The Rose Theater Downtown
  • Performances: December 14, February 1, April 25, May 2 (following TNT productions)

Here’s a zine the Coalition created after the 2020-21 season of discussions on topics like white supremacy, election reform, disability justice, women’s history month, climate change and housing inequity:
