Livin' In Color

Livin’ in Color is a devised, student-created theatre piece exploring what it means to be a young person of color in our world today. Using hip-hop theatre, improvisation, soul work, slam poetry, and other diverse theatre practices, students will create an original performance to uplift and highlight the many voices of the Omaha and BIPOC community. Young Playwrights (Inclusive)

Students are guided through the process of writing their own plays. In the fall, learn the basics of playwriting : idea creation, format, structure and constructive criticism. In the winter/spring students are supported as they begin to write their own play and are encouraged to submit their scenes/plays for production in our Young Playwrights Festival. Young Playwrights Festival

Come act in original short plays, by teens and for teens! The Young Playwrights Festival showcases the work of some of the best teenage writers in the Omaha area. Most of the scripts featured in this production are created as part of The Rose’s yearlong Young Playwrights class, which is led by The Rose’s award-winning Playwright-in-Residence, Brian Guehring. Written entirely by teens, the works are filled with comedy, tragedy, hopes, fears, romance, and all-out fun.
