Stories & Songs (Ages 4-7)

Students will learn musical numbers from a variety of exciting shows as they learn developmentally appropriate musical theater skills and terminology. Students will also create original characters and storylines based on the musical numbers, building their storytelling and collaboration skills through creative drama. This class culminates in a year-end performance in May on the mainstage theater at The Rose Downtown. $100.00 Concert Fee due at time of registration. The Teen IDEA Coalition at The Rose is dedicated to providing a space for teens to explore Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility through the creation of art and meaningful discussion. In exploring methods of radical educational ideas and social justice principles, the group is designed to empower young people to utilize their voices as activists and artists. Young Playwrights

Students are guided through the process of writing their own plays. In the fall, learn the basics of playwriting : idea creation, format, structure and constructive criticism. In the winter/spring students are supported as they begin to write their own play and are encouraged to submit their scenes/plays for production in our Young Playwrights Festival. Pride Players

Pride Players educates, entertains and inspires activism in our audiences of teens, parents, teachers and community members. The group uses improvisation to create songs, poetry, monologues, and skits that explore what it means to be a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer or ally teen in Omaha. The group has been honored by many groups including The National Education Association, Heartland Pride, and American Alliance for Theater and Education.
