The Rose must have a Tax Exempt Form on file if your school is tax exempt. Iowa schools must pay tax. Memberships are not valid for school field trip shows. Rain checks for future school shows can be issued for absent students.

Day of Show Guidelines

Arrival — Please arrive 15 minutes before curtain. Latecomers will be seated at the House Manager’s discretion. Bus rules are as follows:

  • If you are arriving by bus, please do not unload your students until a Rose staff member has approached your bus and collected your information.
  • Bus loading and unloading is allowed ONLY on the east side of The Rose Theater.
  • Three locations are available for bus parking:
    • 1. bagged meters on the north side of Farnam between 20th and 24th Streets,
    • 2. 20th Street north of Farnam (do not block the Wells Fargo drive through exit)
    • 3. 20th Street east of The Rose

Seating — All school groups are assigned reserved seating. An usher will escort your students from the bus, into the theater and to the correct seating area. Please have your students ready. No food or drink is allowed inside the theater’s seating area.

Departure — For pick up, busses are asked to form a line behind the parked vehicles on 20th Street south of Farnam. Please do not double park, cut around other busses in line, or pull up to the building before the busses in front of you have properly departed. Once your bus is loaded, please depart promptly in order to allow other busses to proceed with their pick up.

Add a Post-Show Workshop

Post-show acting workshops are a great way to enhance your students’ field trip experience. By studying the characters, plot and themes from the show, students will gain a deeper appreciation for the theatrical process. In addition to acting exercises, students will receive a tour of the sets and view the costume and make-up designs from the show.

Post-show workshops are offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and are best for children in kindergarten through 8th grade. The cost is $4 per child. The 11:30 a.m. start time allows students a 30-minute lunch break following the close of a 10 a.m. show. Students should bring a sack lunch and beverage. To book a post-show workshop, contact Lindy Glenn at lindyg@rosetheater.org.

Field Trip Pricing:

  • Teachers are FREE!

  • $3 students on free/reduced lunch program
  • $5 adult chaperones

Note: Tax will be added to groups that do not have a tax exemption code on file.
