SPOT SAYS! A Review of Elf The Musical!

Guess who’s back on The Rose stage?! IT’S BUDDY THE ELF! He’s spreading Christmas cheer! He’s singing loud for all to hear! Elf The Musical is once again a hit holiday classic at The Rose! I have been singing the songs all year and just waiting and waiting for Elf to come back to The Rose. My wish to Santa came true as this  Sparklejollytwinklejingley production is back and better than ever! It makes a dog happy, happy, happy, happy, happy all the time to step into the holiday-filled lobby and into my front row as the magic of the season filled the theater with joy. The set was a big and bold as ever with hundreds of pounds of glitter cascading the stage and a puptacular cast featuring 29 talented actors, a lot of whom are Rose Kids! I am thankful I was able to attend opening night, as my December was kicked off with a holiday burst of excitement and I am officially ready to celebrate thanks to Buddy!

The story begins when Buddy (Dan Chevalier) gets the news from his best pal Santa Claus (Karl Houser) that he is, in fact, human. Buddy embarks on a Christmas quest to find his real dad, workaholic Walter Hobbs (Anthony Clark-Kaczmarek) and a new life in New York! His hijinks lead him to Macy’s where he finds the most beautiful elf he has ever seen, Jovie (Regina Palmer), and he has to instill Christmas joy into Jovie and all the other elves he encounters, as well as his own family! The cast brings energy and life to the stage, while dishing out one-liners and holiday hilarity at the same time. I also got to get autographs from some of the actors and they pet me extra because I wore my favorite Chihuahua Elf outfit!

Oh, I can’t forget about the set. The projections. The lights. The dancing. The singing. It was like unwrapping a beautiful milk-bone on Christmas morning. If you are wanting a magical experience for your family for the holidays, you have to get your tickets today! Director Matt Gutschick, in his second year directing the production, led this amazing production team to produce what I think is the show of the season… again! Even if you saw this show last season, there are new set pieces, new choreography, new youth actors and more to expect when you bring your family this year!

Get your tickets while you can, because this show is selling out fast! It is a can’t-miss event and you will surely leave laughing and singing all the way to Christmas!

Until next time,
SPOT
