Thank you for your interest in sharing your work with The Rose Theater. The Rose is a professional, non-Equity, producing theater offering a full season of productions for young and family audiences. The Rose also offers a full range of education programs, including a teen theater program and summer production camps for youth.

We accept unsolicited script submissions related to any of our programming needs, including:

Main Stage Productions

Main Stage Productions

· Main stage season consists of 7-10 productions, including musicals and plays
· Created for young audiences and family audiences
· Productions for young students (4-8 years old) and older students (8-14 years old)
· Typical show run time is 60-75 minutes
· Cast size ranges from 4-12 actors

Theater for Young Audiences

Theater for Young Audiences

· Serving our youngest audiences of ages 2-6 years old
· Often incorporates live music/musicians as part of the cast
· Cast size ranges from 2-6 actors (leaning heavily toward the lower end)
· Cast consists of professional actors who are typically also teaching artists
· Typical show run time is 25-40 minutes
· The Rose typically incorporates a pre-show/ insight experience in the lobby before the performance

Summer Youth Productions

Summer Youth Productions

· These productions have entire cast of youth actors
· Audience is primarily family and friends
· Cast size ranges must be flexible from 12-24 actors
· We are looking for scripts that have lots of featured roles and have lots of opportunities to have the entire cast on stage
· We need a "hook" to get youth actors and parents excited about signing up to be involved

Script submissions are reviewed on a periodic basis — but not on a defined regular schedule. We will make our best effort to send an email acknowledging receipt of unsolicited submissions. After email acknowledgement, we will only contact a playwright (or representative) if we feel a submission fits one of our production needs and warrants further conversation.

To submit a script, please send a letter of inquiry including:

  • Contact information
  • Identification of which Rose Theater program the script fits
  • Script summary
  • Identification of cast size
  • 10-page script sample
  • Any other pertinent information (adaptation rights, unique production concerns, etc.)

Please send all submissions and inquiries to:
